Why do you need teeth? What is the purpose of teeth?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

It is essential for human beings to have teeth because teeth allow people to chew food so that it is made smaller and more manageable and can then easily pass through the oesophagus and into the digestive system. The majority of us, unless you are a vegetarian, eat meat nearly every day – which makes us omnivores as we can eat meat and plants.

Your canine teeth allow you to tear meat. Alternatively we can chew and pulverize plant food ie salads etc using our molars which are the flatter teeth at the back of your mouth. You need teeth because if you didn’t have any you would only be able to eat small food or food that had been mashed up that you could eat without chewing.

Stop Bad Breath – Avoid Smelly Foods

Sunday, April 25th, 2010

In my previous job I had many different colleagues and friends, however, there is nothing worse than coming back from lunch and sitting down to your desk when a colleague comes over and breathes in your face and they have bad breath. This is often accentuated if the person has been drinking the night before, eats garlic, doesn’t brush their teeth or even smokes and then doesn’t chew some gum or have a mint.

This is one of my personal HATES, it is disgusting!!!  Brush your teeth and have some consideration for other people. It is just plain bad manners to have bad breath and then force others to put up with smelling it. It is anti-social. On occasions there are medical reasons for bad breath but the majority of the time it is people having bad personal hygiene so sort your bad breath out!!

What is Dental Phobia and Dental Anxiety?

Saturday, April 24th, 2010

What is dental phobia? Basically, this is when you have an irrational fear of going to the dentist. There are two extremes of dental phobias, one type may spend too much time thinking about their teeth or dentists or dental situations, and then the other type of dental phobias spend a lot of time trying to avoid thinking of their teeth or dentists or dental situations.

Trying not to think about your teeth is very hard, especially with the vast amount of toothpaste adverts on TV and on billboards etc. In my opinion, you need to bite the bullet and take yourself to the dentist for regular check-ups. This will benefit you in the long term as your dentist will be able to help with toothache, prevent future issues with your teeth and also pin point any underlying health problems.

Have you ever been in a bar and flashed your smile at a good looking guy to then have him smile back at you with stained and crooked and discoloured teeth? Eww it would put any normal girl off because first impressions count. People look at your clothes and your behaviour, but when you smile if you have discoloured teeth – you are going to put a lot of people off.

Moral of the story is – your need to keep your teeth in perfect condition by BRUSHING YOUR TEETH!! Or you’ll never get a girlfriend or boyfriend!

Get into a routine of brushing your teeth

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

In the modern day world, more and more people are now taking part in cosmetic surgery to make themselves look better. However if they would have just looked after themselves in the first place they wouldn’t have to fork out for often painful and expensive procedures to improve their looks. Having a healthy teeth brushing regime is one of the factors which is often overlooked.

If your parents teach you to brush your teeth morning and night and also after any big meals then you are set up into a great routine which will lead to your teeth being white and decay free! This also means less health problems including toothache when you are older!
